Government's Commitment to B.C.'s Children and Youth
The ministry’s action plan and detailed operational framework establishes a foundation that will enhance and improve services to children and youth.
Action Plan Framework – Strong, Safe and Supported: A Commitment to B.C.’s Children and Youth is the culmination of months of collaboration and consultation with ministry staff and ministry partners. The action plan is the impetus for the government to move forward with a strong focus on early intervention and a needs-based approach to supporting and protecting vulnerable children and youth – through a strong, integrated system.
The Operational Plan, updated to January 31, 2009 has been finalized along with a Progress Report on the Actions in the October 2008 Operational Plan.
- Operational Plan [updated to January 31, 2009] – Strong, Safe and Supported: Operational Plan establishes specific actions, timelines and outcomes that the ministry is working on in order to enhance and improve services for children, youth and communities. This also includes an appendix that gives an update on progress on the implementation of the Hughes Review recommendations.
- Progress Report on the October 2008 Operational Plan – the Progress Report on the Operational Plan - Strong, Safe and Supported provides high-level progress on the actions within the October 2008 Operational Plan. This report highlights work that has been completed and steps taken by the ministry, ministry partners and stakeholders in order to accomplish each of the respective actions within this Plan.
Previous Operational Plans and Progress Reports
Report on Programs and Services – What's Working for Children, Youth and Families in B.C. is a report that highlights programs and services, nominated by the ministry's regions and provincial office, that are working well. Nominated programs participated in in-depth focus group discussions about their services and the things that make them successful. These focus groups took place in a variety of locations around the province and involved clients, social workers, service providers, regional staff and other key stakeholders including youth and parents.
