LuLu

Birth date: November 1997
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian/Inuit

Let me tell you about a beautiful little girl who considers herself smart, fantastic, truthful, loving, pretty and cute. Given that her foster parent agrees with Lulu’s assessment of herself, who is going to argue with that!

Lulu loves to interact with adults. She is a great conversationalist and loves to be the center of attention. She will require some coaching to help her develop good relationships with her peers. An older sister would be a wonderful thing for Lulu who could learn all kinds of social skills from her.

Lulu has just finished grade 3. She will need help and support from her family and her school to stay up to date with her peers. She has received some extra help with school outside the classroom in the past year.

The ideal home for Lulu would be one that is physically active so she can show off some of her talents. She loves to dance and swim and really wants to take gymnastics and karate. She is very athletic and well co-ordinated. Lulu has completed Brownies and wants to go on to Guides. Her family would need to be prepared to coach her through some of her academic challenges. Lulu also would love a family with pets but does need to be reminded that even pets deserve some “free” time when they aren’t being dressed or played with.

When Lulu is asked what she is looking for in a family she has some trouble articulating what it would look like. She hopes her mom will be popular and that she will want to take Lulu shopping and buy her things. She hopes her dad will want to take her out as well and enjoy spending time with her.

Some openness with Lulu’s maternal grandmother, including some visitation needs to be negotiated. Also openness with the foster family will be very important especially during the first year.

An aboriginal family would be the first choice for Lulu but a non aboriginal family may be considered.
