Amelia
Birth date: December 2000
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations
How do you feel about summersaults and cartwheels in your house or yard? If you have the space, Amelia has the talent! This little girl loves anything physical and outdoors. She loves gymnastics and native dance and is not afraid to show off for you. Bike riding is right up there on her list of things to do as well so make way for one active , healthy little girl who can climb like a monkey.
Amelia is currently in grade 3. She gets some supports at school to help her stay focused on her academics and to help her with rule following. She does not need any help in her social functioning with her peers. She does better in her relationships with adults when the environment is structured and predictable. She is quite affectionate and loving with adults once she has established a level of trust with them.
Amelia is clear about her desire to have a family of her own forever. Her ideal family would be one that is physically active and supportive of Amelia’s wide array of interests. An Aboriginal family is being sought at this point. Amelia would do well as an only child but would also fit in a family with more children. Her family would be expected to have concrete knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and the ongoing issues associated with it.
Amelia would benefit from some ongoing contact with her birth mother and maternal grandmother so some openness is recommended. A cultural plan and some contact with her aboriginal community will also need to be in place.
This little girl represents a wonderful opportunity for the right family. Perhaps she will fit into yours?
