Sharpen your Webkin skills and prepare to watch all the Hanna Montana movies that exist if you want to make an impression on Anita. This talkative little princess has a wide range of interests that include almost anything that is creative. She loves the computer and will opt for family activities over day care if given the choice. Anita loves animals but does require some supervision to ensure she treats them well.
Anita is strong-willed and loves to be the leader in activities with her friends. This can be a great skill but can also cause Anita some difficulties when interacting. She struggles with her own impulsiveness. Anita is currently in grade 3 and gets support within the school system. She is better at math than she is at reading and spelling and she can become frustrated when the learning does not come easily. Anita has developed some friendships but it has taken her a while to develop appropriate social skills and she still has a ways to go.
This little girl needs a family prepared to learn about the prenatal effects of drugs and alcohol among other things. Anita has a number of diagnoses that will need to be explored with her new family prior to placement. Anita has connected well with her foster family and has lived with them for 7 years. Some form of openness with this family and some birth relatives would be in her best interests. Ideally the Abbotsford area would make an openness arrangement manageable. Her family will also need to be prepared to work with the supports provided through school and CLS services. She needs a home that can provide a high level of supervision to keep her safe and provide her with the nurturing love and attention she requires to thrive. Anita’s foster family would like ongoing contact with her and her new adoptive family.
All in all Anita has much going for her. Perhaps you would like to help her with some of her challenges?
