Active, amusing and spirited are just a few words to describe this dynamic duo. According to Blaine, a forever family means people that “will always be there for you.’ For Nola it is important that her permanent family “like” she and her brother, and take good care of them.

Even though he is small in stature and has asthma, Blaine absolutely loves playing sports. He lists some of his favourite sports as basketball, baseball, and wrestling. He also enjoys activities such as snowmobiling and camping, and in his less active moments, watching TV.

Blaine has done well in maintaining friendships with his peers, and he also relates appropriately to adults. Blaine is very active but at times can have difficulty focusing. He admits that sometimes he ‘gets mad’ but says that overall he’s a happy boy. To support more consistent, positive behaviour, Blair goes to art/play therapy. He also does well when he receives consistent reminders and prompts from his caregivers.

Blaine attends school full time and he has an Individual Education Plan. He is currently going into high school even though he has experienced some cognitive delays and has needed assistance and support from a teacher’s aid. In particular, he needs extra help with language arts, math and science. Blair is a very personable young man that people find very easy to relate to.

Nola has a special interest in animals, especially horses. This artistic, busy, and bubbly girl also likes to play with Barbies. Other favourite pastimes are swimming and just being outdoors. Nola can be a bit shy, but she is well liked by her peers and she interacts positively with adults. Like her brother, she does well with consistent reminders and prompts. She also says that she likes to be cuddled.

At school, Nola requires some additional supports to succeed in the classroom. She has a modified program for language arts, math and science. Her strong subjects include P.E., art and personal planning. Nola has no physical disabilities, but she is small in size and wears glasses.

Nola and Blaine need a non-smoking home and it is recommended that they are the only children. Their forever family would need to support ongoing contact with other siblings, foster parents and birth parents. This personable pair would love to be in a home with pets. A family that understands the effect of prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol would be preferable.
