If Brighton had the opportunity to tell you about himself, he would likely start out by telling you that he is funny, happy and smart. He could also regale you with his skill at basketball and dance. His picture would convince you that he is a handsome young man as well. He is about to finish grade 4 and is described as active, affectionate, animated and appealing before we even move on to the B’s. Although he has many challenges, Brighton has many things going for him. He is healthy and active, loving all outdoor activities as well as lego, videos and bike riding. Brighton is gentle with younger children and animals and has a strong desire to please. He is affectionate and loving and enjoys adult attention and recognition. He has recently acquired an appreciation of classical music and it has proven helpful in assisting Brighton to focus in the classroom. Everyone that comes into contact with Brighton finds his easy to like.
Brighton requires a family willing to dedicate a considerable amount of time to his development. The family will preferably be aboriginal but a non aboriginal family willing to support Brighton to learn about his aboriginal heritage will be considered. Openness with his siblings would be in Brighton’s best interests and contact with extended family will need to be considered.
Brighton would love a family who is actively involved in the community, has pets and is involved in some sports activities. He would likely do better in a family that has some experience parenting and is prepared to set firm, clear, consistent limits. Parents that have an understanding of ADHD and learning disabilities related to prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol would likely be best for Brighton. His parents should be prepared to be strong advocates for Brighton in the school system and within the community.
Brighton needs the unconditional commitment of a family to help him reach his full potential. He is a wonderful boy who will fill your home with love and laughter.
