Caleb

Birth date: June 1995
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian

This handsome young man has lots of positive attributes. When asked how he would describe himself Caleb refused to say suggesting that everyone would laugh. He needs a support team willing to explore his self assessment and not laugh at him.

Caleb loves to see himself as a helper and a protector of younger children. He is generally cheerful, affectionate and loves to be active. Caleb is a collector of “things” such as rocks, shells and pennies and is very comfortable “hanging out” with adults. He loves music, swimming and video games. Caleb has some difficulty with his peers and will need lots of patience and encouragement to develop these skills. Although Caleb can be strong willed, he has endearing ways that make him very likeable.

Caleb currently has a one on one Teachers Aid that helps him attend to tasks at school. He often has difficulty following directions or instructions and his Aid helps him “cool down” and decreases stimulation. Caleb currently works in the library at his school and does a good job of organizing books. He is going into grade 6 and functions below his chronological age. He is described as having poor gross motor skills but participates fully in Phys Ed classes at school and rides a bike very well.

Caleb requires a mature loving family for the rest of his life. A rural family with animals would be a wonderful fit for Caleb. Ideally this would be a family with siblings for Caleb to develop and practise his social skills. Caleb’s family would benefit from knowledge of unborn children’s exposure to drugs and alcohol. He also has some medical concerns that his new family would need to explore with the professionals involved.

Caleb is a delightful boy and would be an asset to any family.
