Cathy
Birth Date: October 1996
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian
Do you have a place in your family for a generally happy and outgoing young teen who yearns to be a ‘big sister’ to younger siblings? Would you enjoy having an active and enthusiastic daughter to share activities such as camping and hiking? If so, you may wish to meet Cathy. This thoughtful, witty and very likable young lady has strong social skills and gets along well with children of all ages. She also has a creative side. Her forever home will soon be brightened with her talented art work and craft projects. Something of an athlete, Cathy excels in track and field events at school and enjoys swimming and most sports. She also loves animals and dreams of one day having her own horse.
In almost every way, Cathy is a typical young teen with great charm and potential. Although typically quiet and shy with strangers, she will open up and be talkative when she gets to know them. She attends middle school, which she enjoys - especially its social aspects! A bright, determined and articulate child, Cathy achieves good grades and is especially good at Maths, Art and PE. She is conscientious about doing homework and takes pride in her achievements.
Cathy will likely need counselling in the future to help her overcome the effects of past abuse and neglect. She is learning to set boundaries and be less trusting with strangers. Her foster mother monitors her connections in the community to ensure her safety. Cathy may have had some prenatal exposure to drugs, but this has never been confirmed.
This engaging young teen would be a wonderful part of any family. The ideal family for Cathy would live in a small town and perhaps have other children and/or pets. A smoke-free environment is essential as she develops asthma when exposed to smoke. Cathy would like to keep in touch with her foster parents and perhaps with some members of her birth family.
