Dee Dee

Birth date: July 2001
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations

Hannah Montana rocks for Dee Dee! (for now, anyway – until the next idol catches her eye). This delightful and enthusiastic child is a “typical little girl” who loves watching TV, movies, and playing the hottest WII games. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as riding her bike, playing in the swimming pool and climbing on playground equipment.

“Of course, I need a Mommy and a Daddy”, says Dee Dee when asked what her ideal forever family would be like. She hopes for “Someone to look after me and cook for me… and love me.” A social and affectionate little girl, Dee Dee thinks she would like “two sisters and a brother” (although, at the moment, she prefers to play exclusively with her foster sisters!)

Dee Dee is intellectually very bright and does well in all areas of school. She was exposed in utero to cocaine, however, there is no indication so far that this has had any negative effects for her. Currently in grade 3, she is doing well in her classes without any additional supports. Dee Dee loves school! She especially likes the after school and summer programs she attends. She gets on well with other children and, although shy at first, most adults. When upset, she can express herself by lashing out verbally at her peers or her foster parent, or throwing temper tantrums. Her foster parent is helping her to learn more appropriate ways of getting her point across.

Dee Dee needs a family where she is loved and appreciated for the charming and appealing little girl she is. She would prefer to stay in the BC Lower Mainland area if possible, and would do well with other children in the home. She is helpful and gentle with babies. Dee Dee’s adoptive parents should be prepared to maintain some openness with her foster family and with some members of her extended birth family. It is important for Dee Dee to keep connected to her Aboriginal culture. A First Nations family, or a family that has close ties with her Aboriginal community, would be preferred.

Could you welcome Dee Dee into your family?
