Meet the terrific brother trio of Derek, Jordan and Kyle. They are looking for a family who can match their enthusiasm and energy. These three boys get along very well and they are protective and caring of one another.
Eldest brother Derek is an athletic, artistic and creative little guy. One of his favourite pastimes is making creations from Lego. He also loves being active – soccer, swimming and bicycling are some physical activities he enjoys.
Overall Derek is healthy and growing appropriate to his age. However, he has undergone surgery on both of his eardrums, and his hearing is at the bottom of the normal range. This has contributed to difficulties with Derek’s speech and language skills. At school Derek has an individualized education plan and spends time with a special needs instructor because he has challenges in almost all subject areas.
Sociable and outgoing, Derek gets along well with adults. With other children Derek can be aggressive and he requires guidance about respecting personal space. Derek attends an after-school daycare where he can be both playful and mischievous.
Gentle, popular and thoughtful are a few words that describe Jordan. Jordan loves drawing, colouring pictures and building Lego structures. Jordan is well liked by other children his age. In the company of adults Jordan is sometimes shy, and he is generally well behaved and polite.
Jordan also has hearing impairments and he is undergoing a process for ear drum repair. It is expected that Jordan will have average or slightly below average range of hearing following his surgery. At school, Jordan is visited by a speech and language teaching assistant and he is delayed in most academic areas.
Kyle is loving, rambunctious and talkative. He really likes spiderman, and he also enjoys going for walks and colouring. Kyle loves going to daycare and his favourite part is creating artwork and participating in gymnastics. His least favourite part? Taking naps. This active boy likes to be on the go and not miss a minute of fun.
For the most part, Kyle interacts positively with both adults and children. At times he can be stubborn and have tantrums. At this time, he is not displaying delays in any areas, but he may require support in future.
These boys need an adoptive family who shares their cultural heritage. If an aboriginal family cannot be found, a family that can maintain the boys’ connection with their cultural heritage may be considered. The adoptive family for Derek, Jordan and Kyle needs to support ongoing contact with their other siblings, maternal grandparents and foster family.
