Dion
Birth date: June 2002
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian
How would you like to walk this delightful little character to school at the start of your day? Think of the fun and excitement ahead! Dion is a cuddly little guy with lots of things going for him and lots of life ahead of him. He is happy, active and curious. What a combination! Dion loves trucks, toys and physical activity. His teachers at school consider him precocious in his ability with numbers and letters. He is a great sharer and gets along well with adults but needs some help developing the skills to get along with other children.
Even though Dion’s favourite activities include running, playing ball and tricycle riding, he has some physical disabilities. These include a hip abnormality and short limbs that interfere with some movements, like the stairs. Dion requires some extra help with getting dressed and activities like stair climbing.
Dion is going to require some ongoing support services such as occupational, physio and speech and language therapy. He needs a family that is willing and able to work with community professionals to assist Dion in maximizing his potential. Currently Dion has a team of professionals that see him from Children’s Hospital. His new family will need to plan trips to ensure that Dion remains connected to those professionals. Ideally the family would support some contact between Dion and his foster family and provide his birth father with some progress reports. Dion also has a half sister that he currently has no contact with. Ideally his new family would be open to exploring some contact with her as well.
There is a whole lifetime of loving and sharing available with this little guy. If you start now with Dion you can fill your wall with his school pictures. He may even be able to provide you with the ones you have missed so far.
