How about this Fab Four to complete your family? Two girls and two boys make up this family grouping. If you are an aboriginal family with lots of energy ready for an action packed adventure, this may be the sibling group for you.
Felicia is the oldest of the group and she is a delightful little character. She loves to play outdoors whether it is bike riding, jumping on the trampoline or camping. She loves it all and also loves to work on arts and crafts. Her care giver describes Felicia as somewhat shy and cautious initially but articulate and helpful when she has a chance to warm up to you. She is well behaved and has no behavioural concerns. Felicia does well in most areas of her life. She gets along well with both children and adults and sounds like a delight to be involved with. Felicia has some medical concerns that will require ongoing involvement with the medical system but present no difficulties at present.
Next we have Julian who has just completed Kindergarten. He is a very athletic little guy who also loves outdoor activities. He is an affectionate appealing boy who loves to draw and play cards. Although Julian gets along better with adults than with his peers, he does love to play with other children. He needs some coaching in terms of his social development and needs reminders about his reactions to situations. Julian will work with an Individual Education Plan in grade one.
Ramon is 3 years old and also loves any type of outdoor, physical play. He loves his bicycle and snowmobiles. Ramon is described as affectionate, charismatic and lovable. Ramon’s social skills are his strongest attribute. He may require some speech/language therapy but is still very young and may catch up on his own. Ramon loves to be helpful and is enthusiastic in his approach to life. How much fun would it be to have this little helper participating in your household?
The little sister in this group is Selina. She is described as an affectionate, dramatic cuddly little character. Selina relates better to adults than children but is learning age-appropriate play with her peers. She is small for her age and that may be a result of her prematurity at birth. At only 2 Selina has most of her milestones ahead of her. What an opportunity to coach this little girl through life!
Are you a family with a lot of energy, and one that participates in lots of outdoor activities? Perhaps with an older child looking for some younger siblings? The family will need some knowledge of the effects of drugs and alcohol prenatally and be prepared to work with medical and educational supports for these little ones.
A family that shares these children’s First Nations background is required. Some openness will need to be negotiated with family members and foster families. The band will need be involved with the development of the cultural plan.
These children offer an incredible opportunity for a family wanting to expand. Their diverse personalities will be an asset to any existing family. Are you up for the challenge?
