Meet Cody and Fiona, a delightful sibling pair who are looking for a youthful, energetic family to give them the experience of a secure and loving home life.

Fiona is an avid athlete and loves to play almost any sport. She has played both hockey and soccer and excels in track and field at school. She has a competitive nature and has said she would like to be the first female in the NHL or a veterinarian when she grows up! Fiona’s love of animals comes from growing up in a rural setting with access to horses. Indeed, riding is one of her favourite things.

Fiona is an independent, spunky girl who has made considerable progress since joining her foster family. Previously, there were struggles with communication and anger management, but with the help of counsellors and the steady support of her caregivers, Fiona is demonstrating age appropriate emotions and behaviours at this time. She is sociable and well liked by her teachers and has a number of close friends at school. Fiona is on the Leadership team and has a persistent, charming nature that will serve her well in the future. She is on track in all her subjects and likes the social aspect of school, though PE may well be her favourite subject.

Cody is described by his foster mother as a  lovable, honest, and inquisitive boy who smiles easily and likes to tell jokes. He is very skilled with anything to do with mechanics and likes playing with Lego and Bionicles. Skating and playing hockey are some of his favourite pastimes, and he also likes to swim, bike, and go to summer camp. He is also good with animals so would be a nice companion to any four legged friends!

Despite being exposed to alcohol prenatally, Cody’s test results indicate age-level functioning in all areas of cognitive, academic and neuropsychological functioning. The medication he takes for his ADHD helps him to focus and as a result he has perfect marks in social studies and spelling. He also does well in math. Cody has had a few problems making friends as he can become aggressive and loud at times, but he is learning to take time to calm himself down and has benefitted greatly from the stability provided by his foster home over the last two years. Cody describes himself as “funny, a good friend and likes to build things”. He is an affectionate, playful little brother to Fiona and a helpful member of his foster family.

These two lovely children would enjoy an active family who can keep up with them both. They get along well with other children, although Fiona does enjoy her status as the older sibling so may do better with younger siblings in the home. Both children love animals and have been used to a rural setting so a small town may suit them best. They have some contact with their birth family so they would benefit from support to continue these connections as well as to their foster parents. They have made considerable progress healing from their past and are ready to find a new, forever family to call their own.
