Are you a family who likes to spend time outdoors being active in nature? Do you have the patience, understanding, and love to transform the life of one busy and outgoing young girl? Then let me introduce you to Hannah. Hannah is a curious and eager youngster who’s full of life and ready for a family to call her own.
Hannah loves playing on the playground at school and spending time outdoors on her foster parent’s farm. She has tried a number of winter sports and is not afraid to snow shoe, ski or skate at any opportunity! Spending time with her peers is also a favourite activity, though Hannah sometimes requires an adult’s help to deal with situations where she gets frustrated. She exhibits some physically aggressive behaviour towards her foster mother when she loses her temper, which usually happens when she is over-tired or hungry. Hannah is learning to manage this behaviour as she gets older, and benefits from the predictable routines and structure her foster family have put in place. She also takes medication to help her be successful.
Hannah has a full time assistant in the classroom and will require support throughout her school years. She is reaching milestones similar to her peers at present, but her testing indicates that her learning ability may show increasing deficits as she ages. Hannah was exposed to drugs prenatally and suffered a non-accidental brain injury at 6 weeks of age. She has already had so much to overcome! Despite this, Hannah has a happy temperament and can be sweet and playful as well as strong willed – great qualities for getting by in life.
The ideal family for Hannah would have two parents with older children and outdoor pets. The parents would need a strong support system and a very structured life, including the willingness to seek new information and resources to help Hannah reach her potential. Some openness with birth family and foster family is expected.
