How do you feel about big opinions? James has one on almost any subject you can name. Add to that his articulation and his ability to converse with almost anyone and it sounds like you have a formidable debate contender. James’ new family will need to be able to hold their own in debates and when asking James to do something against his will.
James has lots of challenges. He has a list of medical and social diagnosis that his new family will need to explore in depth with their social worker and doctor. These challenges are offset with a long list of positive qualities. James himself would tell you that he has a good sense of humour and is able to laugh at himself. He loves a joke. James also likes to help people and demonstrates that skill frequently.
James is currently in grade 4. He currently has access to an aid when needed. James excels physically and does very well with hands on work. He could certainly benefit from some coaching in the area of writing.
James does best when he knows what the expectations are. He does well with routines and consistency. His new family should be aware of this and prepared to provide a structured environment with lots of activity.
James currently has contact with his birth mother and with siblings. It would be in his best interests to continue this and consider some openness with his current foster family.
