Jay Jay

Birth date: April 1996
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian

How about a boy who loves to ride horses, swim, snowboard, cycle and read books? Add the bonus of his interest in playing the guitar and you have a talented boy with a wide array of interests. This blonde haired, blue eyed handsome boy has had a rough start but has shown great strides since he has been in a stable environment over the past 3 years. His foster family has seen great improvements through the use of medication and a consistent loving approach to parenting Jay Jay. All indications suggest that Jay Jay will continue to develop into the helpful, clever young man he has the potential to be.

Jay Jay is currently in grade 7 and works with a TA in the classroom to help him with his behaviour and his organizational skills. He does better with verbal assignments than written ones and he is a very good reader. Jay Jay is proud of his guitar playing and the fact that he likes to be active.

Jay Jay does best with long transition periods and predictability. His new family will need to move slowly and work hard to gain Jay Jay’s trust. A family prepared to provide lots of patience and guidance would be the best fit for Jay Jay. His family will also need to be prepared to assist him through many hurdles. He will need coaching to develop appropriate relationships with his peers and need support to gain some independence. Jay Jay has a number of behaviour and medical concerns that his new family will need to explore.

Some degree of openness will need to be explored with Jay Jay’s birth mother, siblings and foster family. He is very motivated to manage his own behaviour and develop social skills. His foster family views Jay Jay as busy, cautious and persistent. Sound like a fit for your family?
