John
Birth date: June 1993
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations/Caucasian
This dashing and endearing young man is John. John is an imaginative and inquisitive boy who is excellent at building and inventing things. He is also very athletic and he loves being outdoors. Word has it that John is also a talented ice skater!
John is a very sensitive boy who relates well to both children and adults – he can be gentle, affectionate and loving. He loves making up games to play with other children. Yet, when he doesn’t get his own way he can be very strong-willed. Behaviour modification is effective in helping John to learn more positive ways to express himself.
John goes to school on a full-time basis and attends a special behaviour modification program. His favourite subject is art, and he requires assistance with his academic work. John was exposed prenatally to alcohol and as a result he has learning deficits, particularly in the area of verbal comprehension. However, the teachers report that John has been making some improvements in his academic studies.
For John an adoptive family means “I would not have to keep moving.” He would do well with a nurturing and patient family. A family with other children who live in a rural setting would be ideal. John’s forever family needs to support ongoing contact with his birth father and sister, and also with John’s former foster parents.
