Kurt

Birth date: October 1997
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations

Like most boys his age, Kurt is into fire trucks and race cars. He is quite inventive, making things to play with and he also enjoys playing on the computer. Kurt loves to do anything physical like running or sports and likes snow shoeing and skating in the winter. Other children and adults get along well with Kurt as he is a caring and likable youngster.

Kurt has access to a full time aide at school that helps him with schoolwork and to focus his energy in the right direction. He is physically healthy but has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Kurt takes medication to manage his ADHD and to help him sleep. Some of his words are not clear so extra attention is needed at times to understand what he is saying.

A home with pets and other children would be a good fit for this lovable, active child. Kurt needs a patient and loving family that understands the lifelong effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol. He needs access to his birth family and his foster family who is willing to help Kurt adjust to life in his new adoptive home. As he is Aboriginal, a family who shares his cultural heritage is preferred. However, other families who are willing to help Kurt stay connected with his cultural community will also be considered.
