Mackenzie

Birth date: February 2003
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations

Mackenzie is a sweet, adorable little boy who is fun to be around. He is happy and playful, bright and loving. He is accustomed to living with other children and loves to play with them. He interacts well with older children and with supervision, is learning how to get along with his peers. Mackenzie enjoys playing with trucks and cars.

This animated and curious child is spunky and energetic, but developmentally delayed in the areas of expressive and receptive language skills and motor skills. He has some challenges understanding cause and effect relationships and cannot differentiate between safe and risky situations. He is apprehensive with strangers. He will require support in preschool programs to be successful in that setting.

Mackenzie needs an adoptive family who share his cultural heritage and are able to take his developmental issues in stride. An understanding of the implications of prenatal exposure to alcohol would be an asset in caring for Mackenzie and meeting his need for structure and safe limit-setting. A good fit would be a family in support of ongoing contact between Mackenzie and his birth siblings and extended family.
