Mike

Birth date: January 2007
Ethno-Cultural Background: Aboriginal

Active, happy, outgoing and spirited – this little guy is guaranteed to liven up your family life and keep you hopping! Mike is a social child and gets on well with other children. His world, right now, includes many activities that he enjoys: building things, playing with cars, exploring outside and visiting the local playground. He also likes looking at books and is developing a good imagination. Music and dancing are also high on his list of interests. Mike has also thoroughly enjoyed the Aboriginal drumming and dancing he’s had a chance to be part of. An independent streak and a touch of mischief go along with his affectionate and charming nature.

Mike was exposed in utero to alcohol and drugs; he received a diagnosis of FASD at three years of age. So far his physical development is age appropriate and he is functioning well in school. He is popular with the other children and loves his teacher, although he has difficulty relating to adults he does not know. This little boy needs close supervision as he can be impulsive, strong willed and has not yet developed a sense of fear or danger.

Mike came into care at 4 months of age and needs a permanent family where he can grow up and belong forever. An Aboriginal or First Nations family who can help this delightful little boy to appreciate his cultural background would be preferred. Mike’s adoptive parents should be prepared for some openness with his foster family.

This busy little boy will thrive in a high energy family that understands the potential effects of prenatal substance exposure. Perhaps you can be the parents who will have the joy of watching him growing up and reaching his dreams.
