Myrna is a little girl who has moved too many times in her short life. She is hoping that her own family will be one that wants to stay put for awhile. She would love a family with pets and one that will support her in the activities she loves.
Myrna is currently finishing grade 7 in a regular classroom with no aid. Her program has been modified somewhat but she manages quite well. She is very responsible for her own homework and diligently keeps it up to date.
Myrna is described as artistic, determined and trustworthy. She loves to sing and is currently in choir. She has some training in playing both the guitar and the flute. Myrna is creative in the area of crafts and sketching. This is a pretty impressive list of accomplishments for someone her age.
Although Myrna continues to have ongoing contact with her birth mother, she has been in the care of the Ministry since she was 4 years old. She has been slow to warm to the topic of adoption but is now ready to look at a permanent family.
Myrna loves to be active. She loves a wide range of activities and loves to participate in them all. She loves swimming, bike riding, gymnastics and the trampoline for starters. Add to that roller blading, skateboarding and basketball and you get some idea of the interest and enthusiasm in this very small package.
Myrna has some challenges. Her care giver says that her behavioural concerns are minimal and that when you explain why she shouldn’t do something, she really gets it. She could definitely stand some help developing better social skills with her peers as she can introduce inappropriate subjects and tends to interrupt.
Myrna does not like smoking so would do better in a family that does not smoke in the house, if at all. Her new family will also need to support openness with the birth mother as they currently have regular visits. That makes the lower mainland look like the best placement area for Myrna.
Although, it may take some work to get Myrna connected, the girl represents an amazing opportunity for the right family.
