Nathan
Birth date: July, 2001.
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations
Nathan is a comical, delightful young boy with special interests in maps and geography. He has great skill in creating realistic drawings of buildings, such as his school. There are several engineers and cartographers in his birth family, so his genetic potential is already showing through! He loves animals and is very kind to them, and he is enjoying the company of the large dog, cat and fish in his foster family. He is even helping his foster dad to make a pond in their back yard and hopes his new, forever family will come with a fish pond as well!
Nathan likes to swim and roam outdoors, and provides good company to the adults in his life, being described as charming, goofy, and overall very sweet. He tends to prefer the company of younger children at school, and does best with the support of adults who can help him be successful interacting with his peers. Nathan was diagnosed with a reactive attachment disorder but is responding very well to the support of his caregivers. Due to a developmental coordination disorder, Nathan’s motor skills are not at par with his peers. He does better in individual sports such as swimming and other non-competitive physical activities. His spirited, creative approach to life opens up endless possibilities for imaginative play and interaction that will serve him well in his future.
A support worker helps Nathan to be successful at school, and he is described as having a lot of potential academically. His highest scores are in verbal comprehension and he thrives with positive encouragement and reassurance from his caregivers. This is a boy who would do well in a forever family with older children, or with the love and attention of a single parent who has the ability to help him reach his potential. A First Nations family, or parents who can help him actively maintain ties to his cultural heritage, would be preferred.
