Nora
Birth date: 1996
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian
Meet Nora, an animated, cheerful girl who wants to experience the sense of ownership and belonging that can be found in a forever family. Nora enjoys playing the piano, baking, bible study, swimming and spending time with her friends. An eager learner, Nora loves to be creative and will try sewing or knitting or any other craft you introduce her to. She participates in the Leadership Program at her school and is interested in opportunities to take the leadership role. Nora will be participating in a Counsellor Training Program at a Bible Camp which she is very excited about.
Nora attends school full time; her favourite subjects are English and Cooking classes, and she gets extra help in Math and Science. Nora has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and was exposed prenatally to substances, so she benefits from structure and routine and needs clear expectations from the adults around her. Like all teenagers, Nora can be defiant at times, but with good role modelling and positive encouragement, Nora can make good decisions and her helpful, compassionate nature shines through.
Nora describes herself as fun loving, outgoing, creative, and religious. And this is what a permanent family means to her: “Somewhere I could live as long as I need to. I would have a sense of belonging and I wouldn’t have to leave when I turn 19”. Nora has experienced a lot of disruption in her life, and needs to be #1 in someone’s life. She would make a great companion and daughter to a mature, single mother with either no other or adult children. Some openness with a grandfather and the foster family is expected.
