Sophie is a beautiful child who has a life time of adventure ahead of her. She is currently in a modified grade one classroom so her new family has the potential to collect all her school pictures. Maybe you have room on your walls for all those beautiful pictures? Her sparkling blue eyes are bound to make those pictures works of art.
Sophie is just developing her interests so we have lots of unknowns with her.
Playing pat-a-cake is one of her favourite activities currently. How are your skills in that area? We also know that she loves to jump on trampolines and to play with water. She smiles and sings and is learning to use “bliss” symbols and a picture board to communicate the words that she hasn’t mastered yet. Sophie loves to run so needs to be watched to ensure she doesn’t run off.
Sophie has been assessed and qualifies for financial support through the Autism Society. They have provided a wealth of information and services to assist Sophie with some of her physical concerns.
The family for Sophie will need to have a clear understanding about Autism and its impact. They will need to be prepared to work with her team of professionals to help Sophie reach her potential. Sophie currently has monthly visits with her mother so some form of openness would need to be explored.
Sophie has been in the same home since coming into the care of the ministry. She definitely recognizes and interacts with her care givers. She continues to develop but it is uncertain how far Sophie’s reach will be. Currently she is a happy little girl who needs lots of support to be successful.
