What an amazing opportunity awaiting the right family here. Three delightful siblings really needing the love and support of a family of their own. All 3 have some challenges but also some great qualities.
Thayer is the oldest brother and he is a caring and loyal older brother to the other two. He is described as active and happy with interests that vary from anything outdoor to playing video games with his brother or being read to. When asked he will tell you that he is an awesome runner and that he is not afraid of the big rides in Disneyland, in case you were wondering. Thayer takes time to warm up but generally has established pretty positive relationships with the adults in his life. He needs some help to transfer those skills to his interactions with his peers. At school Thayer has some behavioural difficulties that are not as much of a concern at home. One of his great qualities is his enthusiasm. Thayer will try almost anything with lots of enthusiasm.
Arnie is a great little guy who is quickly catching up to his big brother. He is a happy, energetic little guy who just loves a game of soccer or street hockey. Arnie is a great artist and loves to tell you the story behind his art works. Arnie likes school and is working at developing the skills required to build friendships with his peers. One of the great qualities Arnie has is his positive outlook on himself. He is also interested in anything outdoors but also loves books and board games.
You can find him watching an episode of Batman or Spiderman just as happily as riding his bike. Arnie’s challenges are more behavioural than academic.
The baby of the family is Summer and she is a beautiful little girl. She can be very cuddly with people in her life but it is definitely on her terms and her schedule. You will know you have made it into her inner circle when Summer cozies up to you! This little beauty is developing a very intriguing sense of humour and loves jokes and tricks. In her foster home Summer has made attachments to people rather than to objects although she has developed a favourite doll recently. She is a strong willed little character with definite ideas about things in her life and she will certainly let you know when she is not in agreement with something.
These 3 delightful characters require a family that is able to respond to a wide variety of challenges. The family will need to have considerable knowledge of the potential concerns associated with prenatal exposure to alcohol and drugs. A family in the lower mainland would make openness a more viable option and would enable Summer to stay connected with the resources she will require to reach her potential. Their new family will need to consider the various diagnosis and possible diagnosis attached to these children, prior to considering placement. Both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal families will be considered.
