These two delightful children have done incredibly well so far, in spite of what life has thrown their way. They are both doing well in school and are able to get along well with both adults and their peers. There is some suspicion of exposure to drugs and alcohol prenatally but neither of them demonstrate any of the classic symptoms.
Thomas is currently in grade 7 and doing very well with no additional supports. He is very popular with his peers and shares many of their interests. He loves sports, especially ball hockey and karate but loves to play anything outside. Thomas has a well developed sense of humour and has no discomfort when interacting with adults, even when they are new additions to his life. Thomas has recently won a regional title for a program that has children use minimal materials to create a product with no adult intervention. He is travelling to Tennessee to show off his robot that picks up and moves objects. An impressive accomplishment for anyone!
Alexa also does very well in school. Her time with a tutor this year helped her show significant improvement. She is currently in grade 6 and requires no additional supports to succeed. Alexa’s current focus is on preparing to babysit. She is taking the babysitting course and is thrilled at the prospect. She loves little children and has shown that she is very good and responsible with them. Alexa also loves music and is a very good reader. She is very polite and a great little chatterer.
These children will do well in a wide range of homes. Younger or older children would both fit well with them as would pets. A young active family with outdoor interests would be a good match. All they really need to succeed is a loving home with the support and affection of their own cheering section.
Openness will need to be explored with birth family members and relatives in Ontario. The foster family would also like to have some contact with these two impressive little people.
