Tyson

Birth date: October 1994
Ethno-Cultural Background: Caucasian

According to Tyson, adoption means having a “growing up” family who teaches him to be a “good citizen” and takes great care of him. This affectionate, enthusiastic, and sensitive boy wants his adoptive family to know that he has lots of energy and he enjoys being active.

Some of Tyson’s favourite activities include basketball, woodworking and drawing. Tyson is a physically healthy child who is developing appropriate to his age. In addition to basketball, Tyson’s other favourite physical activities include skating, biking, and cross country running.

In terms of social development, Tyson is a compassionate and considerate child, yet he can have difficulties interacting in a group setting. He is anxious and can be impulsive. Behaviour modification, a structured setting, and medication are used to help Tyson focus better and reduce his anxiety.

At school, Tyson has an individualized education plan, and along with some other students, he receives assistance in the classroom. Tyson has difficulties processing information and has a history of developmental delays. Tyson says his favourite subjects are science, P.E., and art. What he likes least about school is when “people pick on others.”

This gentle boy needs an adoptive family who will support ongoing contact with his siblings and current foster family. Some contact with Tyson’s birth mother and grandmother also needs to be maintained. It would be best if Tyson’s adoptive family consists of two parents who reside in the Okanagan region. It is necessary for Tyson to have a nurturing family who can provide him with strong structure, guidance, and of course, lots of love.
