To these three thoroughly likeable siblings, an adoptive family means never having to move again, not having to get special permission to sleepover with friends and having a family of their own. An athletic star, a social butterfly and a future builder, these children are charming, outgoing and full of personality.

Eldest sibling, Wade, considers himself  kind, helpful – and handsome! Certainly most people would agree. Typical for a boy his age, he is very active and participates eagerly in sports such as ball hockey, basketball and running. He would like to learn to skate. Other interests include video games and playing outside with his friends. With adults he can be a bit quiet at first but his foster parents find him to be sociable and helpful.

Wade has been affected by prenatal alcohol exposure and suffers from ADHD and anxiety. At school, he excels in sports activities but requires some support with academic subjects. He attends a regular French Immersion school program at the grade level appropriate to his age. This young man has, in the past, struggled with impulse control that has resulted in minor stealing. He does better in a structured environment and needs an understanding family that can help him develop his great potential. Wade likes animals and looks forward to being part of a family where he can have a dog.

Middle sibling, Debbie, is all Girl. Sweet and sociable, she likes to play with her Barbie dolls, is a Hannah Montana fan, and is described as popular with her friends both in school and in her home neighbourhood. With adults, Debbie can be quiet at first but very chatty and quite assertive when comfortable. She is doing well in all subjects at school and needs no extra help academically. Like her brothers, Debbie is quite athletic. She enjoys swimming, riding her bike and keeping busy with her friends. This ‘social butterfly’ has also expressed a wish for a dog – and a sister!

Youngest sibling, Grant, is a busy, determined boy with a passion for anything to do with tools and building things. He is a ‘natural’ on a dirt bike and happy when playing outside, running, jumping, bike riding, swimming and expending energy on a multitude of other activities. Although he has a tendency to be ‘bossy’ and enjoys being the centre of attention, he is learning to get on better with other children. In fact he can be caring and helpful with the babies in his foster home.

Grant is functioning at his age level in school with some support. He takes medications to reduce the effects of ADHD and is beginning to focus better and avoid being distracted.  Spunky, talkative and occasionally mischievous, this little guy thrives on keeping active and has a great enthusiasm for life.

Wade, Debbie and Grant would do well with a family who can provide structure and have a good understanding of the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure.  Wade and Grant have a diagnosis of partial FAS and anxiety disorder. It is suspected that Debbie was also prenatally exposed to alcohol but this has not been confirmed. Because the children have Metis cultural background, an aboriginal family, or a family willing to help them maintain ties with their cultural heritage, would be preferred. Their adoptive family should be prepared to consider some openness with members of their birth and foster families.
