Welby

Birth date: July 1994
Ethno-Cultural Background: First Nations

Let me tell you about an amazing little boy who can build and take apart almost anything! He is going into Grade 8 so still has numerous milestones he needs support to complete. Welby loves to do almost any work with his hands and can produce amazing results. He has an amazing amount of energy and seems almost tireless. He needs to find a family willing to supply enough diverse activities to keep Welby engaged and happy. Welby’s family will need to have lots of energy to keep up with him. Luckily, Welby likes to participate in a wide range of activities that include music, computers, mechanics, bike riding, swimming and almost anything outdoors.

Welby does better with adults and younger children than he does with his peers. He could really benefit from some coaching in building relationships with peers or having a mentor help him build those skills. He requires some additional skills to participate in team sports but does extremely well when able to function independently. He loves pets and could benefit from some interaction with them.

Welby is functioning very well academically. The plan for Grade 8 is for Welby to have some support in his classroom to help him manage his own behaviour.

A solid knowledge of ADHD and FAS would be an asset to Welby’s family. They will also need to be prepared to work with his supports within the school and medical systems. The family would also need to explore some forms of openness with his birth mother and father as he currently visits with each of them separately. An aboriginal family is currently being sought for Welby. Perhaps he would be a good fit for your family?
