These two little darlings are in the market for a permanent home. If you are hoping for a delightful little pair to liven up your household this just may be a match for you! These beautiful little people require their very own cheering section. Given that they have experienced an adoption disruption, they need a family with a high level of commitment. The children’s behaviour has seen some escalation since the disruption but neither the daycare nor foster home consider them behaviour problems.

Xena is currently in kindergarten and has her whole school life ahead of her. She currently has an aid in the classroom to help her be successful. Xena loves to draw and loves her stuffed animals. She can be very nurturing when one of her ‘stuffies ‘or a friend is in distress. Xena is a rambunctious loving little girl that loves to be helpful. She can get along with both children and adults but is prepared to test the adults in her life to determine who is in charge. Xena’s challenges are in the area of behavioural concerns. Her new family will need to be prepared to set firm, consistent limits with her to help her succeed. Xena has had surgery on one of her eyes that requires follow up.

Xena’s little brother Levi is currently only 3 years old. So far he shows interest in books, reading puzzles and cars but he has an entire lifetime to develop other interests. He is sweet natured and loves to talk. He can get along with both adults and children although he does need encouragement to share his favourite items. Levi goes to day care and loves it. He tends to attach himself to one person but he loves the staff and the other children. Levi loves to participate in all the activities offered other than nap time. That is definitely not his favourite! Levi has some mild hearing loss in one ear and requires ongoing monitoring. A family that shares these children’s Mètis roots would be the first choice but other families will also be considered.

Both these children require a family with a firm commitment to their growth and development. Both will require support within the medical and education system. The family will need to be aware of the impact of exposure to drugs and alcohol prenatally and be accepting of the challenges created by this. These children have ongoing contact with extended family in Alberta and it would be in their best interests to maintain that contact. They also have developed ties to their local community which will need to be considered.
