Incontinence Supplies
The At Home Program provides incontinence supplies for children over age three with severe disabilities. A recent review of this benefit has determined that by developing a list of good quality incontinence supplies available in bulk packages, substantial cost savings can be found.
The list of available incontinence supplies offered by MCFD through the Product Distribution Centre is changing and some higher priced products will no longer be available. Good quality but less expensive products will be available in their place.
It is possible that particular brands of supplies may no longer be available. If this is the case, the Medical Benefits staff or the Product Distribution Centre staff are available to assist parents in selecting a suitable product from the new list.
Direct Funding
As an alternative to government purchased supplies, parents may choose to receive Direct Funding. Direct Funding enables parents to purchase incontinence supplies in their own community or from a supplier of their choice. Annual payments based on the age and weight of the child, will be available for parents who choose this option. These payments are a contribution toward the cost of incontinence supplies for children age three or older and may not cover all costs.
Direct funding is for the provision of incontinence supplies only (Diapers, Pull-ups, Reusable briefs, Diaper Pads and Wipes).
For more information on the Direct Funding option and how to apply please read the Incontinence Supplies Direct Funding Guidelines, or you can obtain a copy by calling the Medical Benefits Program at 1 888 613-3232 or in Victoria at 250 387-9649.
