A message from the Minister of Children and Family Development
Welcome to the Child Protection Update web page. This site was developed to provide you with current information on the important work dedicated ministry staff do each and every day in the child protection field. As you go through this website, you will also find out about some of the positive things we are doing to improve and enhance child welfare services across the province.
Our government is committed to ensuring that all children and youth in British Columbia have the strongest start possible. Safety is always of the utmost importance and is always our number one priority.
If you know a child who needs help or you suspect abuse, please call the Helpline for Children at 310-1234 (you do not need an area code). A ministry social worker will answer that call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
After all, keeping children and youth safe is the responsibility of all British Columbians.
