Child Care Awards of Excellence

MCFD recognizes the valuable contribution early childhood educators (ECEs) and licensed family child care providers make in support of early learning and child care in British Columbia.

Fifteen child care professionals were recognized for their achievements and presented with Child Care Awards of Excellence in five categories:

General:

• Catriona Brown - Nightingale Preschool/Junior Kindergarten in Victoria
• Shannie Harvey - the V’la l’bon vent Preschool in Vancouver
• Kirsi Pereda - Whistler Children’s Centre in Whistler
• Rhonda Sylven - Lambrick Park Preschool in Victoria

Aboriginal:

• Anne Wright of the Kitselas Nation - Kitselas Head Start in Terrace
• Cynthia Gosnell of the New Aiyansh Nation - Aboriginal Supported Child Care Program in Prince George

Family Child Care Provider:

• Feneda Ha Au Yeung - Another Happy Home Day Care in Vancouver
• Elisabeth Mueller - Little Raven’s Nest in West Vancouver
• Tara Pipke - Kidz on 6 in Richmond
• Vicky Tutanes - Klarissa’s Learning Center in East Vancouver

Promising New Early Childhood Educator:

• Monica Neratini of the Cape Mudge Nation - We Wai Kai Daycare Center and Headstart Program on Quadra Island
• Grace Tampi - Canyon Springs Montessori School in Coquitlam

Lifetime Achievement:
