We have excellent partnerships with social service agencies in the community, and benefit from many teaching opportunities within the local university. We also have future plans to increase co-location and collaboration with the School District, and increase our outreach programs to isolated First Nations communities.

First Nations peoples make up a significant portion of the clientele. We are currently working in partnership with various First Nations groups to develop both counselling and prevention programs. Planned increases in mental health funding over the next three years will offer significant opportunities for innovation and culturally appropriate service delivery.

100 Mile House

100 Mile House is the hub of the South Cariboo area, serving a population of approximately 12,000. The area is known for ranching and logging as well as year-round outdoor recreation adventures like fishing, boating, hiking, and limitless cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

The local Child and Youth Mental Health office consists of a small multidisciplinary team working flexible schedules to meet community and client needs. The 100 Mile House team is part of a rural network of offices with a current clinical staff of eight, who meet regularly for case consultation and support. We have excellent partnerships with social service agencies in the community and benefit from a ‘community-first’ collaborative spirit. We have plans to increase co-location and collaboration with the School District and increase our outreach programs to First Nations communities.

Preferred candidates are generalists with broad interests in the field of Child and Youth Mental Health who have a vision to expand community partnerships. Opportunities exist for clinicians who specialize in working with anxiety or mood disorders, early psychosis intervention, or parent education, and who can provide leadership to peers within our network.
