Children First Initiative

Children First initiatives work in partnership with others in the community to promote the healthy development of young children. Local groups work together to understand, address and plan for the unique needs of children aged 0 – 6 in their communities. Originally there were three pilot sites.  Today there are 45 distinct Children First initiatives in British Columbia.

Children First initiatives work in partnership with others in the community to promote the healthy development of young children. It is only one of several initiatives working to strengthen community capacity throughout BC. Some of the others are Understanding the Early Years, the Community Action Program for Children, the Human Early Learning Partnership and Success by 6®. It is important that all of these initiatives work together to provide a holistic and integrated approach to community development.
