Resources for Schools The Ministry of Education oversees the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system by setting standards, allocating funding and monitoring for student achievement. School Boards are responsible for ensuring that special education services and programs are delivered to any of their students who require them. To help teachers, parents, students and others increase their understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, the Ministry of Education established a Provincial Outreach Program in September 2006. The Provincial Outreach Program for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (POPFASD) supports teachers of students with FASD by explaining the educational implications of FASD. POPFASD shares current FASD research, resources and successful practices and provides a network for teachers and others. Through consultation with teachers and experts in the field of FASD, POPFASD developed a website to provide information, e-learning modules and resources for teachers. Additional information on special education services and resources is available through the Ministry of Education website.
