Foster Family Month - Celebrating 22 Years
October is Foster Family Month in British Columbia – an opportunity for all of us to recognize and honour the remarkable contributions foster families make in our communities. First proclaimed in October 1990 – this year we are celebrating the 22nd year of Foster Family Month in our province.
Every day in communities throughout BC, around 3,200 foster families open their hearts and their homes to about 5,300 vulnerable children and youth.
Not everyone can be a foster parent - it takes someone special to do this work. The most important qualifications are a desire to provide a supportive and caring environment and make a positive difference in a child’s life.
If you know a foster family in your community – remember to say thank you for their dedication and commitment to the children, youth and families in our communities.
