ActNowBC is a province-wide chronic disease prevention strategy (e.g. cancer, coronary heart problems, diabetes, etc.). The goals of ActNowBC are to:
- Make BC one of the healthiest jurisdictions to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Build community capacity to create healthier, more sustainable and economically viable communities
- Improve the health of British Columbians by reducing tobacco use, eating healthy foods, being more physically active and making healthy choices during pregnancy
- Reduce demand on the health care system
Various ministries and government partners have developed programs and resources to assist British Columbians in making healthy choices. The ActNowBC website provides links to information, resources, and initiatives which can assist in preventing the onset of chronic disease and help reduce the risk of chronic disease conditions.
