Community Partnerships

Meeting the mental health needs of children and youth can best be accomplished through partnership with families and community partners. There are many community partners within the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) such as

  • child protection
  • adoptions
  • guardianship
  • youth justice
  • youth forensic

There are also many community partners external to the ministry such as

  • community agencies
  • aboriginal communities
  • ethnic and cultural groups
  • schools
  • hospitals
  • public health services
  • family physicians
  • general practitioners
  • adult mental health
  • psychiatrists
  • advocacy agencies
  • libraries
  • recreation centers
  • research and teaching institutions

The Child and Youth Mental Health Plan will facilitate the ongoing development of these crucial partnerships in order to better address the mental health needs of children, youth and families in B.C.
