FRIENDS Certification Training & Eligibility

Prior to implementation of FRIENDS in the classroom, a one-day FRIENDS certification training is required. FRIENDS for Life training is available to teachers, school counsellors, and other educators committed to delivering FRIENDS universally in BC classrooms. Training is provided by FRIENDS certified trainers. All training and program materials for BC school personnel (public and independent) are provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

FRIENDS Program Levels

Fun FRIENDS (Kindergarten and Grade 1)
The Fun FRIENDS program teaches children and families many skills including exploring feelings, understanding and helping others, and learning to be confident and brave. Read the Fun FRIENDS Program Overview for all the details.

FRIENDS for Children (Grade 4 and 5) & FRIENDS for Youth (Grade 6 and 7)
The Overview - FRIENDS For Life Program provides a description of the concepts & skills taught in each session of the FRIENDS Child and Youth programs. FRIENDS addresses many of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes in the Health and Career Education K-7 curriculum. FRIENDS for Life Child and Youth programs are endorsed by the Ministry of Education as a recommended learning resource. Click to view the Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6 and Grade 7 grade collection.

FRIENDS Training Team

The BC FRIENDS training team is comprised of 25 certified trainers who provide FRIENDS trainings province wide.

FRIENDS Liaisons

There is a FRIENDS Liaison associated with every district and Independent school. Liaisons are the main communication link between the FRIENDS program and schools, and are responsible for assisting in the coordination of FRIENDS trainings and the ordering/distribution of classroom materials.
