Since the release in February 2003 of The Child and Youth Mental Health Plan for British Columbia, a five-year implementation plan has been developed. The first two years focused on making the existing services as effective and efficient as possible.

In 2005/06, resources were added to enhance children's mental health services by reducing the gap between need and capacity. Additional enhancements will be added in 2006/07 and 07/08.
