Welcome to the latest edition of the Family Matters newsletter. For the past few years, this newsletter has provided a portrait of ministry programs that make a difference in the lives of B.C. families and shown what individual staff members are doing to improve their understanding of their clients’ needs. In this issue, Family Matters will also take a look at Transformation and the transformation work happening across the province.

In this edition, read An Interview with Jennifer Erickson, Executive Director of the Deputy Minister’s Office, and learn about the role she plays in Transformation. You can also find out about change management principles and learn more about what it means to be “strengths-based”. Discover how a canoe trip affected a worker’s way of thinking and what the Equipped for Life program is all about.

All of the transformation work we do, whether in the Regions or Provincial Office, as staff or service providers, is about improving outcomes for children, youth and families. By focusing on this common objective and our commitment to continuous improvement, we’ll move forward together towards realizing our vision that BC’s children are strong, safe and supported to reach their full potential.

If you would like to take a closer look at a particular transformation topic or have a question you would like answered, send an e-mail to MCF.TransformationFeedback@gov.bc.ca.
