Deaf Access Office
The Deaf Access Office promotes access to government services and benefits that meet the needs of deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind persons and their families in BC. The DAO is staffed by a Community Liaison Worker and supervised by the PSDHH child, family and community consultant.
Mandate
- Promote access for deaf children, youth, adults and their families within MCFD systems and facilitate access to government services by deaf clients;
- Act as a referral centre to appropriate resources and services for deaf people and families with deaf members;
- Coordinate education initiatives for government offices and services providers in order to better accommodate the unique needs of deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind clients .
