Bev DicksBev has worked in the Child Welfare field for the past 27 years. After working in her home province of Newfoundland as a generalist social worker for five years, she moved to northern BC, in 1988. Bev worked with Aboriginal and rural communities across the North West for the next twelve years. It is through this work that the power of relationship in moving our work forward was instilled and consistently reinforced for Bev, and it remains a core value for her today.
Over her career, she has held the positions of probation officer, adoption worker, protection worker, team leader, area manager, community service manager, child protection manager, Aboriginal services manager, contract and resource manager, and director of operations.
Bev transferred from the North in 2000 and became Regional Executive Director in Vancouver Coastal in 2006. She is very people-oriented and espouses to the principle of leadership through presence. Engagement with staff is a cornerstone of her leadership practice. Bev is enthusiastic, committed, and strongly believes in the transformation vision and actively seeks the way forward.
In 2009, as Assistant Deputy Minister, Child and Family Development Services, Bev assumed leadership responsibility for the oversight and management of Vancouver Coastal and the Fraser Regions. As part of her provincial corporate portfolio, Bev is also responsible for facilitation of the Management practice change agenda.
