- About Us
“We are community advocates for children, youth and families in the Vancouver Island Region. We envision a climate of mutual trust and collaboration that promotes positive change and supports all children, youth and their families on their quest for optimal development.”
The Vancouver Island Regional Advisory Council is a volunteer group whose members hold the well-being of children, youth and families at the centre of their work.
The Ministry of Children and Family Development established the council, in the fall of 2008, to serve as a link with the communities of Vancouver Island and to strengthen the ministry’s working relationships. The council members represent the diverse geographical areas of the Vancouver Island Region and have a wide range of professional and personal experience to offer.
The council meets on a regular basis to develop recommendations that reflect community issues about the safety and well-being of children, youth and families. The council is a resource to both the ministry and the community and supports collaborative working relationships while representing community perspectives and providing a critical communications link between the ministry and the communities it serves.
