To better fulfill our responsibility to clients, service providers and taxpayers, to allow for competition and to ensure our contracting process is transparent and accountable, the ministry is adapting its approach to contracting.

The Contracted Services Branch coordinates policy and provide support and advice to the ministry. The branch is working to:

• recognize the importance of contracted services in the ministry's business model;
• evaluate current procurement and contract management systems; and
• make procurement and contract management in the ministry a model of best practices and accountability.

Improved contracting practices will ultimately result in the ministry obtaining better value for money and better quality services for its clients.
