Services and Programs - Ages 6 up to 19

In addition to special education services provided to children and youth with special needs through school districts, and services provided by CLBC the ministry provides a range of child, youth, and family focused support programs and interventions. These services help families in their role as primary caregivers and promote a child's healthy development and maximum quality of life.

Services for Individuals with Developmental Disabilites

On June 23, 2008, government announced changes in ministry responsibilities. These changes included a transfer of services for children and youth with special needs and their families, currently provided by Community Living BC (CLBC), to the Ministry of Children and Family Development. For detailed information please see the Children's Services Transition to MCFD web page.
